Judy Clanton, 76, of Oakland City, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her home in Oakland City.
She was born August 20, 1939 in Palestine, IL to Harold and Glenna (Alford) Neeley.
She lived in Oakland City since 1974, moving from Poplar Bluff, MO. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree and then she got a Master’s Degree from Indiana State University. She retired in 1999 from Petersburg Elementary School after over 30 years of teaching. Judy was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher’s Sorority and was a member of the Petersburg retired teacher’s organization. She was a member of Oakland City First General Baptist Church and a dedicated minister’s wife. She was a former Vice-President of Women’s Baptist World Alliance and was Vice-President of the North American Baptist Women’s Union from 1977-1982. Judy served on the National General Baptist Church Board from 1971-1976 and served as the President from 1975-1976
She is survived by her children, Jonathan (Kristi) Clanton of Battle Creek, MI and Julie (Joe) Coffman of Evansville; 7 grandchildren, Katelyn, Nathan, Jackson and Megan Clanton, Abigail Seebode, Tyler and Caleb Coffman; and a sister, Donna (Gene) Cozart of Vincennes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. John G. Clanton in 2006; brother & sister-in-law, Jimmy Keith and Donna Neeley; granddaughter, Lauren Clanton; and son-in-law, Mark Seebode.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Oakland City First General Baptist Church, 224 W Harrison St., Oakland City, In 47660, with Dr. Douglas Low and Rev. Alec Hensley officiating. Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm on Wednesday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and from 9 AM until service time on Thursday at the church.
