Roger J. Michel, 59, of Fort Branch, IN left this
earth to greener pastures on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from a farming accident
in Fort Branch.
He was born November 14, 1956 in Princeton to Arnold
and Allene (Wilson) Michel.
He was a lifelong farmer and a strong supporter of 4-H
and FFA, a graduate of Fort Branch High School class of 1974, and a graduate of
the Purdue University Agriculture Short Course. He followed his grandfather’s
and father’s footsteps working with the youth on the Arnold Michel farm
teaching the value of work and responsibility. He took pride in the family
dairy herd, winning multiple top dairy type and production honors. Over and
above all of this was his love of Christ, family, friends, and neighbors.
He was a very devout Christian who attended The Remedy
Church in Darmstadt.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Allene and his father, Arnold, his step-mother, Millie (Meny-Simon) Michel, his mother-in-law, Kathleen (Maxey) Enochs, and step-daughter, Leah (Greene) Otto.
He is survived by his wife, Janene (Enochs-Greene) Michel, his son, Nick (Andrea) Michel, his
daughter, Kendra Michel, all of Fort Branch; step-daughter Kara (Mike) Akers of
Princeton, step-son, Brandon (Rachel) Greene of Evansville, step-daughter, Jill
(Bill) Sohl of Winter Haven, Florida; brothers, Gary
(Johnsie) of Boonville, Larry (Jo) of Fort Branch;
sisters, Diana (Dean) Estrada of Princeton, Lois (Rick) Schmitt of Haubstadt;
sister-in-law Teresa (Tom) Miller of Mt. Carmel, IL, brother-in-law Jeff (Tina)
Enochs of Patoka; six grandchildren: Ethan, Brielle,
Livy, Hadleigh, Hailey, Landon, and a grandson to be
born in March; father-in-law, Earl Enochs, Jr., of
Patoka; step-mother, Mary Lou (Weber-Williamson) Michel, of Fort Branch;
several nieces, nephews, step-sisters, step-brothers, and former wife, Melinda Meadors.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 25 at 10:00
a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Hwy 168, 4 miles east of Fort
Branch. Pastor Rich Mull and Jeff Enochs will
officiate the services.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 24 from 2 to 8 p.m.
at Stodghill Funeral Home, Hwy 168, Fort Branch, and
Monday, January 25 from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Paul’s United Church
of Christ.
