Ruth Evelyn (Moore) Mathew, 89, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Pine Haven Health and Rehab in Evansville.

She was born on October 15, 1926 in Gibson County the daughter of Jesse Lee and Clara Marie (Caldwell) Moore.

Ruth graduated from Griffin High School in 1945. Married Raymond J. Mathew on Feb. 6, 1946 and worked for the United States Postal services for 17 years at the post office in Cynthiana. She was a member of the Cynthiana Chapter of Order of Eastern Star #445.

Survivors include her 3 children, Donna (Ed) Hertel, Karen (Gordon) Jones and David (Kathy) Mathew all of Evansville; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Margaret Overton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond on March 15, 2014; great-grandson, Brock Hertel; sisters, Beulah Straw and Lois Titzer brother William H. Moore.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Hubachek officiating. Burial will be in Calvert Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to personally thank the staff at Pine Haven for the compassionate care extended to their mother and grandmother.
