Raymond Samuel Pugh, 92, formerly of Francisco and Vanderburgh County, died Dec. 31, 2015, in Summerfield, Florida.
He was born Sept. 27, 1923, to Robert “Hoyt” and Fannie (Burnes) Pugh.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and active with American Legion Post 44 of Newburgh.
He was married for 29 years to Pauline Rueger of Evansville, who died in 1976 at age 49.
He retired in 1980 from Whirlpool.
In 2012, he married his companion Ella “Sami” McDonald, on his 89th birthday.
Surviving are his wife Sami; sons Steve (Janice) Pugh of Evansville and Andy (Cindy) Pugh of Newburgh; daughter Michaelyn (John) Tilley of Marshall, North Carolina; stepdaughter Jayleen (Ron) Briggs of Plainfield; 11 grandchildren 18 great grandchildren; sisters M. LaVerne Scott and Eva Mae Terry, both of Newburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
He was buried with military honors in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Jan. 22.
