Elmer A. Kissel, 84, of
Haubstadt, Ind., passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at River Pointe Health
Campus.
He was born October 3, 1931 in St. Wendel,
Ind., to Leo and Antoinette (Bauer) Kissel.
Elmer was a graduate of Cynthiana High School. He
served in the U.S. Army and upon his return he worked at Emge
Packing for 17 years. He later became a USDA federal meat inspector. He was a
member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Knights of St.
Johns, all of Haubstadt. Elmer was a loving father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and travel.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brothers,
Norman, Urban, and Adam Kissel; and sister, Emma Nurrenbern.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Antoinette
"Toni" (Goedde) Kissel; sons, Rick (Jody)
of Evansville, Mike (Theresa) of Corydon, Ind., Donald (Julie) of Haubstadt,
Ind., Greg (Summer) of Ft. Branch, Ind.; daughter, Debbie Weiss (Kelly) of
Haubstadt, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law,
Rita Kissel.
Visitation 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 First Avenue,
Evansville, IN 47710, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.
Visitation will continue from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday,
December 16, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt, Ind.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday,
December 16, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt, Ind., with Fr.
Kenneth Betz officiating.
Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in Haubstadt on Wednesday, December 16,
2015.
