Edith Pauline Hughes, 94, of Patoka, passed away on
Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.
She was born in Hazleton, IN on May 28, 1921 to the
late James and Edith Williams.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Patoka most of
her life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and puzzles, but most of all
spending time with her family. She attended the Patoka United Methodist Church
and was a 50 plus year member of Patoka Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 281.
She is survived by a son, Terry (Donna) Hughes of El Paso, TX; 3 daughters,
Diane Hoover of Phoenix, AZ, Sara Jayne (Herb) Gray of Patoka and Sandra K.
(Todd) Best of Mesa, AZ; 4 grandsons, Keith (Lori) Hughes of El Paso, TX, Jim
(Barb) Hoover of Evansville, Braiden Grubb of Princeton and Josh (Kathleen)
Hughes of Villa Hills, KY; 2 granddaughters, Sherry Gray Newton of Rockport and
Lori (Ed) Bolden of Mt. Carmel, IL; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Jo Ann
Bush of Jasper, IN; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George W. Hughes in 1997; a
grandson, Herbert L. Gray in 1977; 4 brothers, Paul, James, Lester and Albert
Williams; 5 sisters, Leona Hasse, Lydia Bryant,
Charlotte Ford, Jean Kinsey and Elizabeth Kinsey; and a son-in-law, James
Hoover.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Jeff Pinney
officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka. Visitation
will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Colvin Funeral Home. Patoka OES
Chapter 281 will conduct an Eastern Star memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday at
Colvin’s.
