“J.R.” Douglas W. Stephens Jr., 30; Connie Marie Stephens, 30 and Alexander Lambert-Stephens, 10 all of Oakland City, died from injuries from a fire at their home.
J.R. Stephens was born April 9, 1985 in Huntingburg; Connie Stephens was born Oct. 14, 1985 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and son Alexander was born June 7, 2005 in Princeton.
They each lived most of their lives in Gibson County. J.R. Stephens most recently worked at Toyota Boshoku Indiana in Princeton and was studying computer technology at ITT Tech. His wife was a homemaker and their son was a third grader at Oakland City Elementary School.
J.R. Stephens is survived by his father and stepmother, Doug and Cindy Stephens of Oakland City; mother and stepfather, Lisa and Nick Addessi of Sherrodsville, Ohio; grandmothers Judy Hazelton of Odon, and Vickie Stephens of Huntingburg; grandparents, Ronald and Virginia Cassel of Farmville, Virginia; brothers Michael (Jonnie) Stephens and John Stephens of Princeton and Shaun Stephens of Ohio; stepsister Stephanie Jones of Princeton; stepbrother Casey Jones of Corydon; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Donald Stephens and a sister, Charlene Stephens.
Connie Stephens is survived by her father, David W. Lambert of Mt. Vernon and mother, Sherri A. Coomer of Princeton; son Christian Kingsbury of Missouri; a sister, Charlena May (Lambert) Frinken of Princeton; half-brothers, Joey Lee Slunder of Poseyville and Dennis John Dale Mason of Princeton; half-sister Sherri JoAnn Mason of Oakland City.
Alexander Stephens is survived by grandparents David W. Lambert, Sherri A. Coomer, Doug and Cindy Stephens and Lisa and Nick Addessi; brother, Christian Kingsbury; great grandparents, Ronald and Virginia Cassel, Judy Hazleton and Vickie Stephens; several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, 323 N. Main St. in Oakland City, with burial at Sunset Cemetery in Winslow.
Visitation is from 2 – 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 – 11 a.m. Saturday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
