John “Eddie” Meny, 83, went home on November 4, 2015.

He was born at his house in Haubstadt, Indiana to the late Henry and Olivia (Schmits) Meny on February 5, 1932.

His family moved to Fort Branch, IN at age 2. They made the large brick house on West Street their home. As a youth he stayed busy working for neighbors, raising Bandy chickens, and ‘shooting hoops’.

Eddie was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He was stationed on Okinawa as a heavy-wheeled mechanic. After returning home he started working at Emge Meat Packing Plant. He retired from Excel. He also worked construction and cleaned the old Haubstadt School for side jobs.

On August 6, 1955 Eddie married Margret “Sue” Elsperman. Haubstadt has always been their home. He enjoyed attending Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Eddie was a loyal Cardinals and IU fan. He still enjoyed ‘shooting hoops’ along with large family picnics. They were blessed with 3 daughters and 2 sons including 1 daughter whom they brought into their home later. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s disease crept into the later years of his life.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Mildred Michal, Norma Harmon, and Viola Wells; and daughter Debra (Hutchins) Howard.

Surviving Eddie is his wife, Sue, of 60 years; daughters, Rita (Larry) Blanton of Fort Branch, IN, and Vita Amick of Wadesville, IN; sons, John, Jr. (Lisa) Meny of Oakland City, IN and George (Toni) Meny of Haubstadt, IN, sisters, Rosaline (Henry) Rexing and Pauline (Carl) Frohbrieter both of Fort Branch, IN; brother Paul (Donna) Meny of Haubstadt, IN; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Many Thanks to all the staff at River Oaks.
