Frances (Corne) Smith Sweezer, 89, passed away Friday Oct. 30, 2015 at her home after a brief illness.
She was born in Gibson County Dec. 24, 1925 daughter of Otho and Fern Corne.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church of Owensville and the Philathea Sunday School class where she also taught. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, volunteer of the Gibson County American Red Cross and Owensville Convalescent Center. She retired from Farmers Bank and Trust now the Fifth Third Bank where she had worked for 24 years. She was a Rosie the Riveter, an avid reader and had an interest in politics. She loved animals including her favorite cat Lucky which survives. Frances loved being with her family and friends and had a special love for music and travel. There were only three States in which she had not been to.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Dawn) Smith of Ajijic, Mexico and daughter, Janet Smith whom was her caregiver at home; step-daughter, Brenda (John) Patrick of Sheridan, IN; 4 grandchildren, Katie J., Neil J., Kyle R., (Ashley) and Zach S. (Jackie) Smith; 3 step-grandchildren, Melody Kimmell her children Reagan, Payton and Cameron, Alex Riggs his children Caitlyn and Sam, Matthew (Krista) Riggs his son Jackson; 4 great-grandchildren, Brian Smith, Aly Drake, Lexi Smith and Adalynn Grace Smith and a great-granddaughter due April 2016; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Rebekah Sanders and Mary Bell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, James C. Smith in 1964; brother, Joe R. Corne; infant son, Michael Scott Smith; step-grandchildren Rev.David Patrick and Jill Patrick.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Nov. 3, 2015 at Holders Funeral Home with Bob Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the Saulmon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
