Harvey J. Hirsch, 78, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1936 in Evansville, IN to the late William S. and Reinildis (Effinger) Hirsch.
Harvey was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN and where he was the recipient of the Brute Award. He was a farmer and was on the board of directors of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Fort Branch for many years. He also served in the U.S. Army for 2 years in the late 50’s.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tom Hirsch. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita (Rexing) Hirsch of Fort Branch, IN, 3 children, Mike (Bev) Hirsch of Fort Branch, Becky Hirsch of Nashville, TN, and Bryan (Liz) Hirsch of Fort Branch, 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Andy, Sidney, and Daniel Hirsch, and Emily (Chris) Cooper, 1 great grandchild, Ava Cooper. He is also survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister, David and Larry Hirsch, and Wilma Ubelhor all of Evansville, IN.
A Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, Fathers Tony Ernst and Bhastati Sudhakar will be co-celebrants. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, and again from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday.
