Isabel H. (Doerner) Maxey-Harkness, 94, of Oakland City, Indiana passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN.
She was born November 29, 1920 in Oakland City, IN to Henry and Maude (English) Doerner.
She attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Oakland
City. She was an avid I.U. Fan and a supporter University of Evansville. She
was a loving Christian mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Joe (Connie) Maxey of Patoka, Bill (Judy)
Harkness of Bloomington, Brenda McDowell of Panama City, FL, Steve (Shelly)
Harkness of Indianapolis, Rick (Julie) Harkness of Santa Claus and Cheryl
Conner of Newburgh; 10 grandchildren, Julie (Tim) Koberstein,
Jennifer Maxey, Amy (Doug) Welp, Donnell (Pete)
Nadeau, Eric (Amie) Harkness, Jeremy McDowell, Jill (Brian) McGinnis, Keith
Harkness, Jamie (Luke) VanDeWalle and Kaitlin Conner;
5 step-grandchildren, Peter Vayo, Cody Schmitt,
Dustin Schmitt, Lisa St. Clair and Tracy Hope; 19 great grandchildren and 5
step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roy Maxey in 1939;
second husband, John Harkness in 1982; 3 sisters, Amy Conder,
Lillian Strickland and Frances Bawel;
daughter-in-law, Charlotte Harkness; a son-in-law, Jim Riley; and
step-grandson, Stuart Vayo.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm (CST) on Friday, October 16, 2015 at
Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Rev. Larry Stoops officiating.
Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. Visitation will be
from 4 until 8 pm (CST) on Thursday at the funeral home.
