Robert B. Rogers, 88 of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015 at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.
He was born May 19, 1927 in Princeton, to Arthur Bruce and
Charlotte (Chamberlain) Rogers.
Bob had lived in Princeton most of his life. He was retired
as the owner operator of Williams Sporting Goods in Princeton for 40 years,
which was formerly Williams Shoe Hospital. He served in the U. S. Merchant
Marines from 1944 to 1946. In 1946 he joined the U.S. Army- Air Force where he
worked in military intelligence, then being discharged in 1950. He attended the
St. Joseph Catholic Church with his wife Virginia. He was a 50 year member of
the Prince Masonic Lodge #231 in Princeton and was a Charter Member of the Fish
and Wildlife Conservation Club. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and
woodcarving.
Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia Whitledge
Rogers of Princeton; daughter, Cynthia (Robert) Smith of Princeton; 4
grandchildren, Vicki (Bobby) Townsend, Jason (Christine) Rogers, Ryan (Amanda)
Parke, and Justin Parke, 5 great grandchildren, Athena, Allie, Sophi, Cooper and Gabby; 3 stepchildren, Cynthia Whitledge Hartman of Patoka, Randal Whitledge
of Haubstadt, and Norma Whitledge Bradey
of Bradenton, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Arletta, in 1974, second wife Marge, in 2003, a son Kevin
Rogers, in 2004 and a sister Mina Lou Strutton.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 4, 2015 at the Colvin Funeral Home
in Princeton, with Fr. Ronald Zgunda officiating.
Burial will be at a later date at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral
home.
