Kenneth E. Martin, 80, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born December 8, 1934 in Gibson County son of Earl E. and Hildamae (Daugherty) Martin.
Kenny was a graduate of Owensville High School class of 1953 where during his high school career he earned 19 varsity letters in which he was most proud. He was a member of the 1953 Owensville High School Sectional championship team that is pictured on the wall of the Ford Center in a photo in remembrance of that great event. Kenny served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper with the famed 82nd Airborne Division. He retired after 40 years as a head operator for Whirlpool Corporation. Kenny was known for being an avid IU basketball fan and a huge follower of his family during their many athletics events. He was also known for his love for gardening.
He is survived by his 4 children, Rhonda (Donnie) Roberts, Kenny Martin, Tracy (Tena) Martin, Danny (Mary) Martin; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Stuckey, Amanda Estep, Tim, Trent, Tricia, Tyler and Alec Martin; 5 step-grandchildren, Robin, Ryan, David, Mandy and Michael; 4 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Caleb Estep, Jaxon and Keagan Martin; 5 step-great-grandchildren, Michaela, Hannah, Dayton, Jacob and Drew; 1 step-great-great-grandchild, Kynlee; companion, Shirley Woods; mother of his children, Shirley Martin; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Owensville Cemetery with Corey Atkins officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the retired military veterans. Holders Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
