Wanda M. Maier, 84, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Gibson General Hospital SNF in Princeton.
She was born November 20, 1930 in Princeton, IN to Ray and Eulah (Grubb) Newcome.
She went to Baldwin Heights grade
school and she graduated from Princeton High School in the spring of 1948.
While attending High School she worked at P.N. Hirsch Dept. Store on the
Princeton Square. She married August L. Maier on November 13, 1948 and they
enjoyed 53 years of happy marriage. Wanda then went to work at Potter &
Brumfield on North Gibson St. She worked there for the next 43 years. She was a
member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Mike Maier (Danny Peach) of Princeton, Gary
(Dena) Maier of Francisco, Beth (Bill) Putt of Oakland City and Jim (Sandy)
Maier of Vincennes; 10 grandchildren, Michael “
Tony” (Tina), Shawn, Stacy (Josh), Matt, Dillon (Donna)
& T.J. (Krystal) Maier, Christina Schatz (James), Scott Putt and Jared
(Macey) & Jamie (Nick)Maier; 12 great grandchildren: Tannika,
Tamera & her husband Heath, Tannisha, Shane,
Nathan, Scott, Treven, Kya, Damien, Brock, Dalaney
and Hunter; 3 great-great grandchildren, Deaubrey,
Jersey and Caden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August in 2001; brother,
William Newcome; and a sister, Doris Hill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015
at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, with Father Ronald Zgunda, celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Joseph
Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Monday at the
Colvin Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 PM. There will also be a visitation
on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 8-9:30 AM with Chaplain John
Hilbert officiating.
