John L. Farmer Sr., 73, passed away Wednesday,
August 19, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born April 4, 1942 in Franklin, KY son of
Felix and Erma Lee (Cline) Farmer.
John retired after 33 years as a custodian for
the South Gibson School Corporation. He was blessed to have many hobbies, which
included gardening, wood working, fishing and bird watching. When you thought
of John's garden you couldn't help but think of it's beauty. He took great pride in caring for it as
well as his wood working. First thing of a morning he could be found sitting at
the kitchen table with a cup of coffee just staring out the window watching the
many bird feeders he had created.
John is survived by his 6 children, Roxanna
(Mark) Walther, Sherry (Steve) Wilson, Sandi (Tom) Moxley,
Johnna (Eric) Meny, John L. Jr. and Jeremy Farmer; 10
grandchildren, Sarah Walther, Amy Roberts, Travis Wilson, Kimberly Griess, Stephanie and Warren Moxley,
Lacie and Erica Meny, Megan
Mitchell and Jennifer Farmer; 10 great-grandchildren, Noah, Madisyn and Bailey
Roberts, Dane, Sommer and Kiptyn
Griess, Aliya Moxley, Gaby
and Hallie Mitchell and Brenton Farmer; 2 sisters, Virginia (Bill) Byrns and Joyce Woods; brother, Orbie
(Aline) Farmer; several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Smokey Farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and
love of his life of 54 years, Lydia on June 20, 2014; siblings Robert Farmer
and Frances Belcher.
Services will be held on Monday Aug. 24, 2015 at
10:00 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Bob Douglas officiating.
Burial will be in the Owensville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday Aug. 23,
at the funeral home. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank
