James E. Tyree, 72, of Worthington, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born April 20, 1943 in Gibson County to Alvin and Hilda (Cox) Tyree. He was a graduate of Fort Branch High School and attended Ivy Tech in Evansville. He served in the United States Navy.

James worked for Cinergy for 20 years. He was a member of the Worthington VFW and enjoyed woodworking, making jewelry from deer antlers, fishing, and hunting. James was a author with two published books.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna (Christmas) Tyree; his children, Ann Bough (Allen) of Lyons, Todd McFadden of Patoka, Janie Wright (Brick) of Linton; siblings, Evelyn Prater (Norman) of Linton, Carolyn Witt (Tony) of Salem, Illinois, Theodore Rodgers of South Carolina; and nine grandchildren, Nikki Bough, Holly Bough, Cody Bough, Katelyn McFadden, Case Wright, Seth Carnes, Alleigh Carnes, Rose Wright, and Zoie Carnes.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, Pastor Doris Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Chapel in Greene-Sullivan State Forrest. Military rites will be performed by Linton VFW and American Legion Post.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
