John L. Steelman, 77, of
Patoka passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at his home.
He was born on
June 10, 1938 in Oatsville, IN to John H and Edna (Ennes) Steelman.
John graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1956,
where he was an outstanding basketball and baseball player. He was a farmer
with Steelman Farms. He was a former president of the
Princeton Country Club, where he was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary E. Steelman
of Patoka; children, Kaye (John) Cates of Hazleton, Brad (Debbie) Steelman of Patoka, Jan (Craig) Weist
of Hazleton, Johnny (Melodie) Vantlin
of Madison, IN and Kriss (Don) Curtis II of Camby, IN; 10 grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Compton,
Jennifer and Melanie Cates, J.B. (Lindsay) , Ryan and Tyler Steelman,
Chassity (Mikey) Mays, C.J. (Jon) Dann,
Johnny Vantlin II and Don Curtis III; 5 great
grandchildren, Jenna Virden, Isabella Compton, Allison Steelman,
Cash and Miles Mays; brother, Jack (Marilyn) Steelman;
cousin, Donna Watkins; and brother-in-law, Rev. Ray Phelps; also several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jill Phelps.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Ray Phelps. Burial will be at the
Shiloh Cemetery in Hazleton.
Visitation will be from 1 until 3 pm on Monday at the
funeral home.
