Charles K. Adams 84, of Fort Branch,
went to his heavenly home, Friday , June 12, 2015.
Charlie was born November 29, 1930, in
Fort Branch, IN to Virgil & Florence (Hickrod)
Adams.
Charlie attended Ft. Branch High School,
playing both baseball and basketball graduating in 1950 to attend The
University of Evansville also playing baseball for U. of E. eventually
attending a try out camp in Branson, MO for the New
York Yankees.
He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine
Corps and served during the Korean War.
On March 28, 1953, he married his high
school sweetheart, Betty Rohl in Fort Branch, IN who
survives.
Charlie served as the Republican member
of the Gibson County Election Board for 50 years and was recognized as the
Indiana Election Board Member of the Year in both 2003 and 2010. He also served
as a member of the original Holding Corporation for Gibson Southern High
School. Charlie was the first president of the Gibson Southern Band Boosters.
He was an IHSAA Basketball and baseball official for many years.
Charlie was an active member of his
beloved Bethel Memorial Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer
He retired from the Whirlpool
Corporation as a systems analyst after 30 years of service.
He adored his family and was a loving
husband, father and PawPaw.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Adams of Ft. Branch, IN son, Bruce (Lynne) Adams of Ft. Branch, IN and daughter, Jane (Jay) Barnett of Lino Lakes, MN. Also surviving are Grandchildren; Jon (Terri) Adams of Ft. Branch, IN, Allison (Scott) of Wainwright, AK, Ashlee and Melissa Barnett and great grandchildren; Bralynne and Nolan Adams, Riley, Jack Tucker and Avery Moore.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
Virgil and Florence Adams, a brother, Roy D Adams and sister, June Kendle Jones
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. on
Wednesday, June 17, 2015 with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating at Bethel
Memorial Church located at 1520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN 47670. Internment
will take place in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch, IN.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16,
2015 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the church and Wednesday, June 17, 2015
from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:00 A.M.
