Geraldine “Gerrie” M. Shaw,
83, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Evansville
Protestant Home.
She was born April 13, 1932 in Princeton to Clarence
and Erma (Meyers) LaGrange.
She graduated from Lockyear
Business College and worked as a secretary throughout her life. She was a
wonderful homemaker and baker and an excellent seamstress, making most of her
own clothes. She was a member of the Baptist church and was very involved and
active even as she and her husband, Charlie traveled throughout their life. She
was a polio survivor and also survived breast cancer and melanoma and other
health issues only to succumb to Alzheimer’s disease.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Charlie Shaw of Evansville;
2 sons, Norman Shaw of Denver, Co and Gordon (Elaine) Shaw of Carmel, IN; 4
grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Jason and Amanda Shaw; brother, Carl (Geneva)
LaGrange of Washington, IN; sister-in-law, Rickie (LaGrange) Brown; and
brother-in-law, Jim Kendall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jeanette Kendall; and
brother, Allen LaGrange.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Tammy Scheller
officiating. Burial will be in the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from noon until service time on
Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
