Norma Carolyn Winkel, 81, of
Somerville, Indiana walked into the open arms of her Lord and Savior on March
6, 2015 at her home with loved ones by her side.
She was born in Daviess County, Indiana on December 9,
1933 to Edward & Thelma (Wilson) Arney.
She was a devoted pastor’s wife for many years,
serving in several Pilgrim Holiness and Wesleyan churches throughout Southern
Indiana. Norma was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life
to caring for her family. She enjoyed working in the garden, canning, cooking,
and decorating cakes. She was a gifted seamstress and talented musician. Norma
was a devout Christian, and dedicated countless hours of her life to studying
the Bible, praying, and helping lead others to Christ. She was a sincere and
caring woman who spent her life loving others and was loved by many in return!
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Arney.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Winkel,
as well as, two brothers, Verlin (Leoka)
Arney and Kermit Arney, all
of Elnora and two sisters, Shirley (Don) Bair of Bloomfield and Betty (Chester)
Chattin of Loogootee. Also surviving, are her five
children; Becky (Mark) Wright of Francisco, Mark (Pam) Winkel
of Princeton, Marilyn (Kent) Doerner, David (Connie) Winkel, and Madonna (Duane) Smith, all of Somerville, her
eight grandchildren; Amber (Andy) Burkett, Brian (Lora) Dickman,
Kendra (Jeff) Buchanan, Kayla (John) Parke, Megan (Brad) Heichelbech,
Tierney Wright, Karissa Doerner, and Tristan Smith.
Great-grandchildren include Ava and Aly Burkett, Aria Dickman,
Alexis and Drake Buchanan, Bradley, Rochelle, and Wesley Heichelbech
and Kadence Doerner. She also leaves behind many
special nieces and nephews and a special nurse practitioner, Erin Georges.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the
Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, IN.
Funeral Services will begin at 11 am Wednesday, March
11, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. Monty Mahoney officiating. Burial will
be at the Albright Cemetery.
