Richard J. Figgins, 59 of Princeton, passed away
Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born Feb. 19, 1956 in Fullerton, CA, to Pat and
Verline Jeanette (Sawyer) Figgins.
Richard was a truck driver for Landstar
Trucking Co. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1974 to 1978. He had
lived in Princeton for the past 20 years moving here from California. He had
lived at, attended and graduated in 1974 from Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans
Home, (O.S.S.O.) in Xenia, OH. He was a member of the American Legion Post 25
and a member of the Association of X Pupils (A.X.P.) of the O.S.S.O. home where
he was raised. He enjoyed woodworking, working on his semi-truck and automobiles.
He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Figgins of Princeton; mother and step-father,
Jenny and Jerry Schenk of TN; 4 sons, David (Alana) Figgins of Evansville;
Bobbi (Misti) Figgins of Seattle WA; Steve McCoy and
Matthew McCoy both of Princeton; 2 daughters, Debra Jean Figgins of Ft. Wayne;
Trish (Jack) Webb, Dayton Ohio; sister, Debi (Randy) Fuhrman of Princeton; 14
grandchildren; foster mother, Marilyn Hamill of Clearwater FL; foster father,
Virgil (Bonnie) Buddendeck of Dayton OH; 3 foster
sisters, Vicky, Shelly and Stephanie, 5 foster brothers, David, Jeff, Brian,
Alan and Jeffrey, several nieces and nephews and many brothers and sisters from
O.S.S.O.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday March 27, 2015 at the Colvin Funeral
Home in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time on
Friday at the funeral home. Military services will be provided at the funeral
home by the Retired Military Veterans.
