Lorel
R. Cooper, 90 of Buckskin passed away Saturday Mar. 7, 2015 at the Paoli Health
and Living Community in Paoli, IN.
He was born Jan. 15, 1925 in Pike County to Patrick H.
and Callie (Henson) Cooper.
He had lived in Buckskin since 1951, moving there from east of Mackey. He
retired from Bristol Myers in Evansville, where he had been a supervisor. He
was a member of the St. John’s Church of Buckskin, a 32nd Degree Mason, member
of the Lynnville Masonic Lodge #396, Hadi Shrine in
Evansville and the Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville. He was a member of the Somerville
American Legion Post #462. He also was a veteran of the US Army in WWII.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Terri Cooper of
Somerville; a daughter and son in-law, Linda L. and Matt Baker of English;
sister Voris Birdwell of Evansville; 6 grandchildren,
Adam Cooper, Amy (Cooper) Loftus, Amber (Baker) Jaress,
Matthew Baker, Nathanael Baker and Anna Baker, 5 great grandchildren, Jack and
Dylan Loftus, Karisma and Lila Cooper and Kendell Jaress and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bertha L. “Skeet” Cooper on July
27, 2014, brother, Charles Cooper, sisters, Jessie Tisdale, Ruth Harmon,
Lucille Sharpe, Eva Schmerberg and Doris Jean Place.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday March 14, 2015 at the St. John’s
Church of Buckskin, with Rev. Jason Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the
church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the
Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and from 9 a.m. until service time at
the church on Saturday. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home.
