My husband, our father and grandfather Raymond H. Kartasuk, 88 was called home to a life of eternal love and
peace on Friday, February 27, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Ray was born August 19, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Harry and Stephanie (Fritz) Kartasuk.
After graduating from Taft High School in Chicago, he
served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. Subsequently, he
graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. His
excellence in the field of engineering only enhanced his abilities as Vice
President of Engineering of Wilton Manufacturing in Schiller Park, IL.
Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to the Evansville area 9 years
ago to be closer to family. As an extremely devout Catholic, he was a
member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt , where he sang in the bereavement choir. His
excellent voice was enjoyed not only by his church, but many as he sang
semi-professionally throughout his life. Additionally, Ray enjoyed making
museum quality aircraft and ship models, as well as antiquing for hidden
treasures.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son-in-law, Stan Epperson and a
grandson, Mark Andrew Epperson.
Ray is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marilyn Kartasuk; 3
daughters: Kim Epperson (Dave), Kathryn Vella (David) and Karen Parra(Mark); 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Keller (Adam),
Stephen Vella and Lauren, Christina and Alex Parra.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Ernst and
Fr. Sudhakar Bhastati as
celebrants. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military
rites.
