Russell D. Kern, 84, of Newburgh, formerly of
Haubstadt passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in
Evansville.
He was born May 28, 1930 in Cynthiana, to Fonnie and Louise (Crawford) Kern.
Russell retired as a broker with American Real Estate.
He served as Gibson County Clerk and Recorder over a 29 year period. He also
was a host at Haub Steak House.
Russell was a member of Sts.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt; Honorary Life member and Past
Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #2215 in Haubstadt. He was an Army
veteran of The Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post #194
and V.F.W. Post #2714 where he served as a Past Commander of each post.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first
wife, Coletta (Tenbarge)
Kern in 1996, second wife, Patricia (Reising) Kern in
2013 and a brother, Sandy Kern.
Russell is survived by three daughters; Becky (Joe) Siewers of Fort Branch, Gayle (Les) Collins of Columbia,
Missouri and Shelley Morgan of Owensboro, Kentucky. One son, Kent (Shelley)
Kern of Argyle, Texas. Nine grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren. One sister, Eloise Elam of Paducah, Kentucky. Nieces
and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday,
Nov. 20 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with
Fr. Tony Ernst, Fr. Sudhakar Bhastati
and Deacon Joe Siewers as celebrants. Burial
will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19
at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt where the Knights of Columbus will conduct a
memorial service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Friends may also call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday
at Wade Funeral Home prior to the funeral Mass.
