Violet Geneva (Ferguson) Earles, 88 of Princeton, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, from complications of a motor vehicle crash on SR 64 near CR 400 E of Princeton that occurred Thursday, November 13th.

She was born in Oakland City on July 19, 1926 to the late Thurlow Vincent and Edna Mae (Scott) Ferguson.

She had lived in Evansville, Oakland City and Princeton. She was a member of the Oakland City First General Baptist Church and the Philathea Sunday School Class, and had been a Vacation Bible School Teacher and Aid throughout the years. She had worked at the former Princeton Credit Bureau and Oakland City Red & White, Welcome Wagon, and as a nurse aid at Gibson General Hospital. She had been a very active member of the Democrat Party. She had been a volunteer home room mother and gray lady at the Oakland City Schools and a former den mother for the Cub Scouts pack 140. She was always involved and helped her sons with all of their scout projects. She was a member of the DAR, the Gibson County and Indiana State Historical Society, the Tri-State Genealogy Society and was considered a professional genealogist. During WW II, she worked at Republic Aviation in Evansville. She was very proud of the fact that while living in Evansville she roller skated down Reitz hill. 

Violet is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Martha Earles of Princeton, Darald Earles of Henderson, KY, David and Oraletta Earles of Petersburg and Mitchell Earles of Oakland City; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Carol Couts of Indianapolis, Janet Emmerick of Washington, IN and Nancy Hotz of Jasper; also several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Cecil Albone Earles on June 7, 2008; 2 brothers, Virgil and Thurlow Edwin Ferguson; 2 sisters, Helen Lucille Armstrong and Shirley Fischer. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Oakland City First General Baptist Church, 224 W. Harrison Street, with Rev. Alec Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and again on Tuesday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the church.
