Larry D. Krohn, 66, entered his heavenly rest on Oct. 17, 2014, in his sleep.

He was born on March 13, 1948, in Gary, IN, to Kenneth and Martha Jane (Way) Krohn. The family moved to Portage, IN, where he graduated from Portage High School. 

Larry received his bachelor and master’s degrees from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, where he met Martha Prusz at the Lutheran Student Center. They were married on Dec. 20, 1970, in Holland, IN. 

Larry taught Science, Health, and P.E. in Remington, Knox, and Princeton, IN. He was Varsity Golf Coach, and coached football, basketball, track and softball at various levels. 

He was a writer, publishing children’s books, and 2 books of poetry. He was the President and CEO of Lil’ Critter Kids, 501c3, a nonprofit organization that placed over 10,000 books in 14 children’s hospitals in 4 states. 
He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and worked tirelessly in many capacities. 

He was an avid Bears football fan, a golf enthusiast, enjoyed model railroading, and quilting. He loved attending shows at Sara and Bill’s theater, and tickling his grandchildren. 

He served as a board member of the Boys Club, and held several offices in the Princeton Optimist Club. 

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth. 

He is survived by his wife, Martha, daughter Sara Lynn (Bill) Minihan, and their son, Ethan, of Paducah, KY, son, Dr. Brian (Dr. Mary) Krohn, and their daughters, Sara Elizabeth and Lily, of Carmel, his mother, Martha Jane Krohn of Portage, brother, Ken (Karen) of California, sisters Karen (Al) Henkel of Ft. Wayne, and Donna (David) McCall, of Valparaiso, nieces and nephews, Kenny and Kelly, Danielle, Matthew and Craig. Also, parents-in-law, Lloyd and Melba Prusz, sisters-in-law Janet (Stu) Townsend, Carol (Ron) Leistner, brother-in-law, Don (Sara Jane), and their children, Chad and Jenni, Kristin, Harrison, Andrea, and Elliot. 

The visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, on Thurs. Oct. 23, 2014 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Broadway and Richland Creek Drive, Princeton, and 1 hour before the funeral at the church in Holland. 

The funeral will be at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, IN, on Friday, Oct. 24, at 11:00 Princeton time/12:00 Holland time, with The Rev. Dr. John P. Schmeling, officiating. Burial will be in the old Lutheran Church cemetery, west of Holland. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with arrangements.
