Larry died October 24, 2014 in Princeton, Indiana
after an extended illness.
Born in Kokomo on June 5, 1946 to Allene
and Gene Feightner.
Larry graduated from Tipton High School. He graduated
with a Business Major/Music Minor from Olivet Nazarene College. He served in the
Air Force, and then graduated from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs
as a Minister of Music. Larry and his family settled in Mt. Olympus in 1981,
where he resided until his recent illness.
Larry enjoyed 20+ years as Minister of Music and/or Choir
Director for the Nazarene Churches in Princeton, then in Jasper. He was a
member of New Life Church of the Nazarene. He and his family loved all music,
worship and fellowship these congregations afforded. He received great pleasure
from serving Princeton and outlying areas as owner of Larry's Sewing Machine
Sales & Service and Larry's Carpet Cleaning at his previous location at 105
E. Broadway until his recent retirement.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Allene and
Gene Feightner and a little sister, Karen, who was
stillborn.
Still this side of Heaven are his two beloved brothers, Don Feider
(wife Angela) with nephews Marc and Christian; and Rick Feightner
(wife Pat) with niece, Donna and nephews, Daniel and Derrick. At home in Mt.
Olympus he leaves his beloved daughter, Susan; his grandson, Andrew (who loved
his Papaw more than anyone could love a dad); and his wife Jan, who fell in
love with him the first time she heard him play trombone. He also leaves a
sweet Mariah Wilhite-who specialized in cheering him
up with hospital visits. David Feightner, who lived
with him over 5 years had a special place for a man who "knew how to treat
a woman", by his example.
Thanks to all the health care workers who had any part
in trying to bring him home to us. The Lord said Larry had an appointment to go
fishing with Jesus in the Crystal Sea. You would see him coming by on his
bicycle. He will be feeling fine-and won't need his glasses.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the
Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Andrew Johnson
officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the
Colvin Funeral Home. Military rites will be provided by Retired Military
Veterans.
