Martha Allison Carithers,
94, died peacefully on October 25, 2014, in Princeton, Indiana, with her
husband of 67 years, Joseph P. Carithers, at her
side.
She was born in 1920 in Ft. Branch, Indiana, and graduated from Ft. Branch High
School.
Her parents were Chester Smith and Ida (Wright) Smith.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Catherine Foust.
Survivors include her husband, “Joe Prent”, of
Princeton, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Diana Carithers
of Evansville, Indiana, her grandchildren, Ryan and Kelli Carithers
of Evansville, sister-in-law, Jean Shoulders of Princeton and many nieces and
nephews.
She was a graduate of Lockyear Business College. She
had been an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Princeton,
Indiana, which she served for over 20 years as church secretary and later as an
Elder and Clerk of Session. She was also a member of the Daughters of the
American Revolution. She had been a long-time member of Farm Bureau
organizations. Previously she was a member of and president of the PTA and Band
Boosters at Francisco High School.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the
United Presbyterian Church in Princeton, with Rev. Mark Sirnic
and Brian Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in
Princeton.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until the service hour on
Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church. The Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton
has been entrusted with arrangements.
