Edwin Logan Barton, 76 of Fort Branch, passed away
Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born October 10, 1938 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to
the late Howard T. and Mary (Gunter) Barton.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean
War. Ed took early retirement at age 55 after working at the Farmers National
Bank in Princeton for 35 years. He was a member of Rotary International, Prince
Masonic Lodge 231, National Rifle Association and Pheasants Forever.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita (Sturgeon) Barton of Fort Branch;
3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Cathy Barton of Princeton, Tracy and
Krista Barton and Stephen and Darla Barton all of Fort Branch; 5 grandchildren,
Whitney (Ryan) Fonte, Haley, Jacob, Lora and Jozie
Barton; 2 great grandchildren, Taylor and Parks Fonte; brothers and sisters,
Marvin (Sue) Barton of Petersburg, Bobby (Pat) Barton of Indianapolis, Nancy
Barton of Alabama, Shirley Robinson of Haubstadt, Jason Barton of Indianapolis
and Amy Wright of Fort Branch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law,
Gussie and Dutch Sturgeon; and a brother-in-law, Mike Sturgeon.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the
Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Jeff Pinney
officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at the
Colvin Funeral Home. Military rites will be provided by Retired Military
Veterans.
