Donald E. Carlile, 83, of
Princeton passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 at Gibson General Hospital in
Princeton.
He was born Sept. 5, 1930 in Evansville, to Emery
and Mary (Elliott) Carlile, both of which preceded
him in death.
He was a lifelong area resident and on March 21,
1951, in Princeton, he married Jeanette Smith.
Don served his apprenticeship at Hurst Manufacturing
and worked as a toolmaker and model maker for many years, retiring from Hurst
Manufacturing in 1992. He was also a member of Bethel Memorial Church in
Princeton. He was the door greeter at Bethel Memorial Church for over 40 years.
When you arrived, he opened your door and made sure you had a bulletin in your
hand and a smile on your face. He also made an impact on many of the area youth
through the AWANA program that he was a part of.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette and
sons; Mike (Marsha) Carlile of Princeton, and Todd
(Karen) Carlile of Trussville, Alabama. He is also
survived by grandchildren; Anne (Jim) Vaughan of Fairfield, Illinois, Emily
(Beau) Fulk of Newburgh, Ellen Carlile
of Princeton, Kayla (Chad) Bates of Springville, Alabama, Lindsey (Chad) Rich
of Fort Campbell, Kentucky and great grandchildren; Amelia Vaughan and Graham
Bates.
Don is preceded in death by parents, brothers;
Lilburn, Wayne, and Emery as well as sister, Dorothy.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug.
13, 2014 at Bethel Memorial Church located at 1520 S. Main St., Princeton, IN
47670, with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating. Internment will take place in
Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from
5-7 p.m. at Bethel Memorial Church.
