Thelma J. Belcher, 90 our angel mother, passed on to
a better place on August 15, 2014 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
She fought with everything in her but the battle was just not to be won.
She was born to Howard and Edna Madaline
(Miller) Scales on Nov. 2, 1923 in Oakland City.
She was the most loving, caring and generous soul
anyone could ever know. She loved her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren completely and with her whole heart.
Thelma retired after 44 years with Potter and Brumfield
on May 29, 1987. She was a member and past Madam President of the Eagles
Auxiliary #361 and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She married Frank Belcher on June 24, 1944 and he
preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, infant daughter Susan Elaine Belcher, one sister Betty Jo Land, one
brother Buddy Scales and two infant siblings, Ethel Louise and Michael.
Thelma is survived by her children, Dennis Beauchamp
of Florida; Michael Belcher of Princeton; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and
Mark Mason of Princeton; and son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Joy Belcher of
Petersburg; her nine grandchildren, Denise Collins, Michael Beauchamp, Dennis
King, Karen Wallace, Kristi Stackhouse, Kim Dutton, Michael Wayne Belcher,
Amanda Merritt, Sheri Nicole Rogers, one step-grandson, Bobby Wright, and 27
great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and best friend,
Frankie Scott of Patoka; brothers, Donny Scales of Patoka, Steve and Randy
Scales of Princeton and a sister Janet Weidig of
Vincennes, and many much loved nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the
Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Gene Siverly
officiating. Burial will follow in the Atkinson Chapel Cemetery near Oatesville.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home.
