RUSSELL E. BURTON, 86 of Princeton passed away
Sunday July 13, 2014 at The Waters of Princeton.
He was born in Princeton May 8, 1928. He lived in
Princeton most of his life.
Russell retired in 1987 as Pipeline Engineer for Ashland Oil after 38 years of
employment. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during W.W.II. He was a member
of Prince Lodge #231 F&A.M. , Life Member of the V.F.W. Post 1114 in
Evansville, member of Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville, Hadi
Shrine of Evansville and he was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Claire Burton of Princeton; 2 sons and
daughter’s-in-law, Russell "Rusty" and Jimmy Ann Burton Jr. of Gulf
Port, Miss. and Raymond D. and Tina Burton of Princeton; daughter and
son-in-law, Janet I (Burton) and Stephen Johnson of Evansville; 7
grandchildren, Donny Burton, Judy Burton Miller, Angela L. Kleinhenz,
Amber N. Carroll, Jazmine Burton, Jerred Burns and
Brandi Hall, 2 step-grandchildren, Dalton and Nathan Williams and 9 great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Mitchell, step- father, Arthur
Mitchell, grandson, Brian Eugene Burton, 2 sisters, Carol Jean Harper and Rose
Ella Henry, 2 half- brothers; John Robert and George E. Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday July 16, 2014 at the Colvin Funeral
Home in Princeton, with Pastor John S. Heumann
officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on
Wednesday at the funeral home. Retired Military Veterans will provide military
graveside services.
