Rose M. McEllhiney, 79, of
Princeton, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at The Waters of
Huntingburg, IN.
She was born March 28, 1935 in Princeton, IN to
Henry and Helen (Gaskins) McEllhiney.
Rose graduated from Francisco High School in 1953.
She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Evansville, IN with a degree
in nursing and received her RN license in 1956. Following her graduation, she
worked as a staff nurse at Gibson General Hospital until 1963. She then went to
Martinez Veterans Hospital in Martinez CA until 1966. Beginning in 1967, she
worked at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN until her retirement in 1993.
During those years she held positions as a staff nurse, assistant head nurse
and head nurse.
She is survived by her brother, Bill (Barbara) McEllhiney;
honorary sister, Amanta Williams; nieces and nephews,
Bridget (McEllhiney) Reidford
of Princeton, Stan McEllhiney of Clarksville, TN,
Steve McEllhiney of Huntingburg, IN, John McEllhiney of Princeton, Jeff McEllhiney
of Boonville, Rob McEllhiney of Nashville, TN and
James McEllhiney of Francisco; and several great
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James R. McEllhiney.
Funeral Services will be held graveside at 6 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at
the St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. Burial of her cremated remains will
follow.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 PM on Thursday at
the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Family and friends will go in procession
to the cemetery.
