Merle LeRoy McCarty, 70, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

He was born in Grayville, Illinois Dec. 20, 1943 the son of Wallace and Grace (Goodson) McCarty.

LeRoy served his country in the United States Army, worked in the oil fields and also at Whirlpool Corporation.

Survivors include a daughter, Shannon Mann; three grandchildren, Matthew and Madelyn Gibbs, Miranda Finchley; sister, Nancy (Mike) Crabtree; brothers, Bob (Joyce), Bill “Sam”, and Larry (Marie) McCarty; special friend and companion, Jennifer Truelock; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Warren McCarty; sisters, Imogene Garrett, Leatrice Hendricks, Roxanna Beard and Nadine Carner.

The funeral service will be Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Kevin Miley officiating. Burial will be in the Maumee Cemetery with military graveside services being conducted by the retired military veterans.

 Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
