Mary Penelope (Bartek) Kraft, 95 of Owensville, passed away on Wednesday,
June 11, 2014 at Transcendent Healthcare of Owensville.
Mary was born in Bell
County, Texas Nov. 1, 1918 to Steven and Christina (Kristinek)
Bartek who precede her in death. She worked at DeJong’s in the 60’s and later worked in dietary at St.
Mary’s Hospital. Mary also worked at Highland and Scott Elementary Schools in
the cafeteria for many years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist
Church. Mary was a book enthusiast and frequented Central Library. She loved
reading mysteries and biographies and would read up to five books a week.
Mary is survived by her
daughters, Karen (Gerald) Osman of Princeton, Beverly (James) Lyle of Mandaville, Lousiana;
grandchildren, Peter (Lisa) Lyle, Scott (Sherry) Lyle, Megan Lyle;
great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ariana, Audrey and Emma Lyle.
Mary was preceded in
death by her husband, Clifford Kraft Ph.D.; her parents; a daughter, Sharon
Kraft; and siblings, Lorraine Maas, Elsie Clemens, Babs
Bartek, Steve Bartek and
Bill Bartek all of Texas.
A celebration of Mary’s
life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home, 738
Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor, Jerry Wibert
officiating. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Oak Hill
Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. at Browning Funeral Home
on Saturday to go to the cemetery for a graveside committal service.
Friends may visit from
4 p.m. until service time on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home.
