Melvin-Wagner, 55 of Evansville, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014.
She was born May 7, 1958
in Cortez, Colorado to William David and Nancy (Sugg)
Melvin.
Virginia was a retired
Lt. Col. from the United States Air Force and Los Alamos National Laboratories
serving in Egypt, Korea, Iceland and Turkey. She was a 1976 graduate of
Princeton High School and later graduated from IU. She was passionate about
singing and playing piano and loved the opera. Virginia loved reading for the
WNIN Regular Reading Club. She enjoyed camping and travel. She was a member of
the Evansville FOP, Disabled American Veterans and VFW Post 1114. She was an
active member of Temple Adath B’nai Israel.
She is survived by
her husband, Daniel Wagner of Evansville; daughters, Angel Melvin and Denae Melvin-Wagner of Evansville; step-son, Ken Wagner of
Evansville; step-daughter, Shannon Wagner of Evansville; mother, Nancy (Sugg) McCormick of Evansville; brother, Mike Melvin (Zane)
of Evansville.
She is preceded by
her father, William David Melvin.
Visitation will be
2-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Ziemer Funeral Home,
North Chapel, 6300 First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710
where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. with Rabbi Gary Mazo officiating.
