Betty J. Helsley, 67 of
Princeton, passed away Saturday May 17, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Home in
Oakland City.
She was born Dec. 21, 1946 in Princeton to Lawrence
and Mable (Harper) Kinder who preceded her in death.
Betty had lived in Princeton since 1982 moving here from Oakland City. She had
last worked as a sales clerk for Eve’s Apparel in Princeton. She graduated from
Oakland City High School in 1964. She was a former member of Tri-Kappa
Sorority. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Daughters of
Isabella. She was an avid golfer, bowler and sports enthusiast, a former member
of the Princeton and Oakland City Golf Clubs.
She is survived by her husband Gary, to who whom she married Oct. 16, 1982,
son, Scott Lee (J.D. Lane) of Elkhart, IN; 2 sisters, Judy (Dean) Liniger, Jasper; Carolyn (Dick) Cochren
of Princeton; a brother, Steve (Robin) Kinder of Oakland City; brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law, Kay (Tom) Church of Rustin, LA; Stan (Pam) Helsley of Petersburg, godmother; Verna Jennings of Patoka;
numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the Colvin Funeral
Home in Princeton, with Fr. Ronald Zgunda
officiating. Burial will follow in the Forsythe Cemetery near Oakland City.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday and
from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
