Nancy L. Blackard, 90, of
Princeton, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014, surrounded
by her family at River Oaks Health Campus.
Nancy was born November 19, 1923 near Francisco and
resided her entire life in Princeton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Blackard January 22, 2012; parents Gilbert F. & Hester McRoberts Smith, brothers Francis, Gilbert, Herbert, and
Eugene Smith, and sisters Lois Parker and Dorothea
Stevens.
Nancy is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Christa and Dick Haugh of Fishers, IN. She is also survived by grandson Rob
Compton and his wife Andrea of Fishers, IN. Nancy was blessed with a great granddaughter
Cayla Jo. Survivors also include sister-in-law Lois Smith and many nieces and
nephews.
Nancy was a graduate of Princeton High School and worked at Republic Aviation
in Evansville, IN during WWII. She retired from Sears & Roebuck in 1971.
Nancy will be remembered for her love of antiques and the beautiful needlepoint
pieces she created. Through the years Nancy loved to play bridge with family
& friends. Nancy was a member of Broadway Christian Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. John Dunn officiating. Burial will be in
the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until 1 PM on Monday
at the Colvin Funeral Home.
