Verner
E. McDaniel, 90 of Oatsville passed away Thursday,
April 24, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.
He was born in near Oatsville
July 8, 1923 to Eldon and Ruth (Borders) McDaniel.
He grew up on a farm and became a farmer. He also
drove a school bus from 1954 to 1977. He graduated from Mt. Olympus High School
in 1941. He had lived in the Oatsville area most of
his life and was a member of the Wheeling United Methodist Church and the
Indiana Farm Bureau.
He is survived by a son, Jim of Oatsville;
six daughters, Diana (Bob) Leffler of Oakland City;
Nancy Jo (Bob) Jones of Hazleton; Judy Petruso of Oatsville; Betty (Denny) Sherman, Hazleton; Janice (Mike)
Berry of Patoka; Pam (Bob) Morris of Gosport; son-in-law,
Dale (Sue) Leffler, Oakland City, sister-in-law:
Doris McDaniel of Oatsville; 11 grandchildren, 15
great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Melba
Jean McDaniel in 1998, daughter Mary Jane Leffler in
1998, and a brother Marvin McDaniel.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26,
2014 at the Colvin Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Pinney
officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time
on Saturday at the funeral home.
