Kathelyn
G. Eckert, 78 of Princeton, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Gibson
General Hospital-Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.
She was born Feb. 28, 1936 in Evansville to Edward
and Anna Otte.
She was a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School in
Evansville-class of 1954. She worked at Citizens National Bank before marriage
in bookkeeping and was St. Joseph School cafeteria manager for 23 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton and served on the
bereavement dinner crew.
She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Our
Lady of Lourdes Circle 157 in Princeton and a member of the Brute’ Society of
the Diocese of Evansville; also was a member of the Laureate Alpha Omega
Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Her hobbies include card club with her friends and
going to all of her meetings, traveling and camping with family, collecting
Precious Moments and Christmas Village. She loved attending all sporting
events of their grandchildren, including soccer, cheerleading, band and tennis.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert
Eckert, to whom she was married at St. Joseph Parish in Evansville; two
daughters, Debra (Chris) Shoultz and Karen (Brian)
Stone; a son, Michael (Stephanie) Eckert; grandchildren, Samantha and Adam
Eckert, Melissa and Ashley Shoultz, Megan and Abby Stone;
a sister, Marianne (Gene) Ritter; a brother, Charlie (Jeri) Otte;
a brother-in-law, Jerry (Becky) Eckert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers,
Bob, Gene and Jim Otte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 401 South Race Street
in Princeton, with Father Ronald Zgunda as
celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in
Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, where the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. and
followed by a Beta Sigma Phi memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
