Lavon “Mema” Hunt, 86 of
Princeton, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at her home.
She was born September 12, 1927 in Pike County to
Rex H. and Ada (White) Masters.
She had worked at the former J. C. Penney store in
Princeton and then worked with her husband, at the former Hunt’s Home and
Hardware Center in Princeton. Lavon loved to travel with her family and enjoyed
crafts, flowers and playing cards; she was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed
cooking and spending time with family. She was a caregiver to many family
members and devoted 28 years of her life to the care of her husband, Scottie J.
Hunt who preceded her in death in 2003. She was a former gray lady in the
school system. She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Princeton
and the Live Wire Sunday School class there.
Lavon is survived by her 4 children, Steve Hunt of Gainesville, FL, Michael
Dean (Yvonne) Hunt of Princeton, Nila (Charles) Robling and Kathy (Bob) Ritcheson
of Hazleton; 8 grandchildren, Jack, Tracy, Stephanie, Michael, Alex, Paul,
Nathan and B. J.; 12 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Gordon Masters of
Florida, Bill Masters of Hazleton and Jack Masters of Vincennes; 1 sister, Ruth
Laidle of Vincennes; 3 special sisters-in-law, Mary
Lou (Jimmie) Watkins of Wheeling, Nora Mae Hunt of Princeton and Elma Elliott
of Petersburg; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Earl M. and Bob
M. Masters and 1 sister, Oleva Hunter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Brad Keenan officiating. Burial will
follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday
at Colvin Funeral Home.
