Eldon Ray "Mac" McCrary, 87, passed away
suddenly on February 12, 2014 in Newburgh Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Molisie McCrary, his first wife of almost 60 years, Jean Berniece Green McCrary, brother, Ora,
sisters, Edna and Elsie.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 8
years, Barbara Lou Beasley Bond McCrary, son Michael R. McCrary (Marilyn),
daughter Patricia McCrary Cantoni (Ron),
step-daughters, Marguery Cornwell (Kari) and Anne Voyles (Mark), step-sons, Dirk Bond (Julia) and Robin Bond,
15 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 20 step-
great-grandchildren.
Eldon was born in Glezen,
Indiana on September 18, 1926.
He graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in Mt.
Olympus, Indiana. He worked for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation for 28
years in several locations and various positions retiring as Project Manager.
He then moved to Shreveport and worked as Production Supervisor for J-O'B
Operating Company for 10 years. He was a veteran of WW II and served in the U.
S. Army earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was
a proud member of the Evansville Valley of the Scottish Rite Lodge No. 64, the
Oakland City Lodge No. 467 and Blanchard Lodge No. 447. He was also a member of
the Orders of the Eastern Star of Indiana and Louisiana. He attended North
Point United Methodist Church.
Eldon had a genuine interest in everyone he met and
maintained many friendships throughout his lifetime. He had a remarkable memory
for names and events and enjoyed telling his stories to family. He had a dry
sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was a devoted husband, father,
grandfather and friend. He was always willing to pitch in and help whenever and
wherever needed. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday
February 19, 2014 and Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 20,
2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home 2500 Southside Dr. Shreveport, LA, with the Reverend
Steve Fowler of North Point United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will
immediately follow at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd. Shreveport
LA.
A Memorial Service will also be held at Tower
Heights Church of God, Princeton, Indiana at a later date.
