Donald “Ray” Dent, 63 of Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

He was born June 27, 1950 in Princeton and had resided in Petersburg most of his lifetime.

He attended Gospel Center Church in Petersburg. 

Ray is survived by 3 daughters, Kathy Dent and Stacy McGavock both of Petersburg and Stephanie Dent of Jasper; his companion, Linda (Mills) Dent of Petersburg; 2 sisters, Nancy Mullins of Winslow and Laura Futrell of Washington; a brother, William “Bill” Dent of LaVergne, TN; 5 grandchildren, Cody, Katie and Kevin Kendall and Angel and Lacey McGavock; 5 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Nathan and Bessie Pearl (Schatz) Dent; 3 siblings, Maurice Dent, Carol Jean Dent and Edith Jane Ellerbruck. 
Funeral services will be at 1 pm (CST) on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Pastor Jason Hill. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Petersburg.

Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm (CST) on Thursday at the funeral home.
