Brenda S. Spurgeon, 67 of Evansville and formerly of
Princeton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.
She was born Jan. 7, 1947 in Princeton to James
Bernard Barrett and Delores Irene (Burton) Barrett.
Brenda was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a
lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Moose
Ladies Auxiliary. She had resided in Evansville for the past one and a half
years, coming from Princeton.
Brenda is survived by a son, Paul William Spurgeon and his partner, Thomas
William Patterson of Evansville; a daughter, Shawna Leathco
of Princeton; 2 grandsons; 1 great grandson; siblings, Paula Barrett of
Evansville, Richard Barrett of Patoka, Faye Packer (Jerry) of Evansville and “Pudge” Powers of Princeton; a goddaughter, Cathy Dewig of Evansville; also several nieces and nephews; and
her canine companion, Teddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, William Minnis; and her husband, Paul D. Spurgeon on Feb. 1, 2010,
they were married April 27, 1963.
A Celebration of Brenda’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014
at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at
Colvin Funeral Home.
