J. D. Fortner, 89 of Princeton, passed away Friday,
Jan. 24, 2014 at The Waters of Princeton.
He was born May 13, 1924 in Elberfeld,
Indiana to the late William and Eunice (Jines)
Fortner.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during WW II and
the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired from the Indiana State
Police, Motor Carrier Division and also retired as a security officer from
Alcoa. He was a member of Patoka United Methodist Church.
He is survived by 3 children, Terri G. LeMay (Bob) of Orange Park, FL, Jeffrey D. Fortner (Elaine)
of Princeton and Tracy L. Jett (Robert) of Princeton; a sister, Norma Jean
Taylor of Morgantown, IN; 7 grandchildren, Matthew LeMay
(Calia), J. R. LeMay, Emily
and Erin Fortner, Taylor Willis (Hunter), Nick Jett, and Leslie Jett (Christa
Willett); 2 great grandchildren, Ashlynn and MacKenzie
LeMay.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (White)
Fortner in 1996, they were married April 1, 1955; 2 brothers, Paul and Kenneth
Fortner; and a sister, Alma Singleton.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday,
Jan. 30, 2014 at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, with Pastor Jeff Pinney officiating. Burial will follow.
There will be no public visitation. Military
graveside rites will be conducted by retired military veterans. Colvin Funeral
Home in Princeton, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
