R. Brines, 93, of Princeton, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at
Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. She was born July 10, 1920 in Augerville, IN to S.S. “Bill” and Flossie (Hayes) Griffin
and lived most of her lifetime in Gibson County. She was a member of Broadway
Christian Church in Princeton. She was also a 50+ year member of the Golden
Fleece Chapter #176 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion, VFW Ladies
Auxiliary and the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. Geneive was
an avid St. Louis Cardinals and I.U. fan. She was known by all as “Grammy”.
She is survived by her children, Sonia (Ronald) Clark of Pueblo, CA, Kay (Max) Vore of Princeton, Mary Ann Gaston of University City, MO,
Caroline Sneath of Toronto, Ontario Canada, J.B.
(son-Caleb) Brines of Princeton, Bob (Terri) Brines of O’Fallon, IL, Debbie
(Ronald) Doggette of Saraland, AL, Julie Brines of
Princeton and Betsy (Brian) Coulter of Evansville; 17 grandchildren; 17 great
grandchildren (1 on the way); and 9 great-great grandchildren; a sister,
Dorothy Yates of Owensville; and several nieces, nephews, grand dogs and grand
kitties.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L Brines in 1967;
grandson, Wade Vore; 5 brothers, Eugene, Clifford,
Russell, Jim and Howard Griffin; and 4 sisters, Mary Frances Marshall, Lola Critchfield Ellis, Evadene
Griffin and stillborn sister, Almeda Griffin.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. John Dunn officiating. Burial will be in
the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on
Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
