Paul McGarrah, 90 of Princeton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.
He was born June 12, 1923 in Princeton to Paul Sr. and Anna Rose (Gourley) McGarrah.
He was a military veteran, having served in the Merchant
Marines, the United States Army and also a member of the Naval Reserve. Paul
retired from the Restaurant Business after 42 years, and then worked at
Buehler’s for 10 years part-time after retirement. He was a member of Eagles
Aerie No. 361, and a lifetime member of the following, Princeton Elks Lodge No.
634, Prince Masonic Lodge No. 231, V.F.W. and the American Legion Post No. 25.
Paul is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shirley Moats McGarrah of Princeton; 3 step children, Sharon (Pat) Thombleson of Mt. Carmel, Randy (Mindy) Moats of Newburgh
and Cecilia DeWitt of Princeton; 11 step grandchildren; 13 step great
grandchildren; 2 nephews, Chuck McGarrah of Princeton
and Jimmy McGarrah of Riverview, FL; 2 great nephews
and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eloise
(Finley) McGarrah; grandparents, Harvey McGarrah and Lillie McGarrah also
Mary King Gourley and Joe Gourley;
a grandchild, Rebecca and also a brother Joe McGarrah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Jeff Pinney officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with masonic memorial services at 7 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home.
Full military rites will be provided by Retired Military Veterans.
