Ernest A “Ray” Harper, 63, of Oakland City passed
away on Sunday December 29, 2013 at The Waters in Princeton.
Ray was born on May 2, 1950 in Gibson County to
Ernest and Faryl (McConnell) Harper.
He was a 4th/5th grade teacher at North Gibson
School Corp for 38 years, and he loved teaching and his kids. He attended the
Oakland City Church of the Nazarene in Oakland City.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Harper of Oakland City; children,
Christian Harper and Lindsey Harper, both of Oakland City; granddaughter,
Cierra Harper; sister, Jonna Isaacs of Oakland City;
brother, Devin Harper of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, Don Thomas; nieces and
nephews (including), Skye Thomas, Ryan Harper, Emily Trussell,
Bob and John Parke, Mandy, Cliff and Shaun Riester;
great nephews, Tryce Thomas and Kaden and Graden Harper; and a multitude of special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Beau Thomas.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at
Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Rev. Darin Nossett. Burial will be at the Forsythe Cemetery in Oakland
City.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday and
from 9 AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
