Charles M.
Nixon, 82, of Fort Branch, IN passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at
Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN.
He was born
on Nov. 30, 1930 in Spurgeon, IN to the late Oatley
and Perna (Rainey) Nixon.
Charlie had
worked for Swift and Co. for 15 years, he had worked as a millright
for Whirlpool Corp., he owned and operated Nixon Transmission, and owned and
operated Nixon Transportation where he was a contract carrier for Red Spot
Paint Co. until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Christian
Fellowship Church in Evansville, IN, having been a member since 1974. His biggest hobbies were his grandkids and
Florida.
Besides his
parents he is also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Allison, Gene, Merle, and
Jimmie Nixon.
He is
survived by his wife Rita J. (Mayer) Nixon of Fort Branch, IN, 5 children,
Charles R. (Kathy) Nixon of Englewood, FL, Gregory J. (Karla) Nixon of
Princeton, IN, Richard D. (Charlotte) Nixon of Newburgh, IN, Chris (John)
Carpenter of Princeton, IN, Carrie (Tony) Butler of Fort Branch, IN, 1 brother
and 3 sisters, Kenneth (Beverly) Nixon of Whiteland, IN, Luvada
Suagee of Newburgh, IN, Pauline Hatfield of
Evansville, IN, and Emma Bender of Gentryville,
IN. He is also survived by 15
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services for
Charles will be on Wed. Nov. 27, 2013 at the Christian Fellowship Church at
11:00 A.M., with Pastor David Niednagel
officiating.
Visitation
will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 west in Fort
Branch, IN and again from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on
Wednesday.
