Betty
Marlene (Wright) Hurst, 76 of Princeton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at
Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.
She was born
Jan. 13, 1937 in Gibson County to Donald and Pearl (Brown) Wright.
She was a
graduate of Princeton High School, class of 1954 and served on their reunion
committee. She lived in the area all of her life. She worked at the former
Myrick’s Drive In as a teenager and had worked at the former Potter &
Brumfield Mfg. and also the Princeton Daily Clarion where she was composing
supervisor for over 20 years. She had been a member of First General Baptist Church
in Princeton, where she sang in the choir and then Vertical Church in Ft.
Branch (formerly Ft. Branch G.B. Church).
She is
survived by her husband, Warren Hurst of Princeton; a daughter, Anita (Jerry)
Hurst Simpson of Ft. Branch; a grandson, Andrew (Romina)
York; 2 great grandchildren, Lukas and Lily York; 4 step-grandsons, Jason and
Scott Garrison also Jeremy and Brad Simpson.
She was
preceded in death by an infant brother; parents; a sister, Rhonda Abran and a son, Gary “Gator” Hurst.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at Colvin Funeral Home in
Princeton, with Rev. Steve Akins and Rev. Jack Eberhardt
officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home.
